Priscilla Children’s Home
Girls Center in Digha – Mumbai, India
We want to introduce you to Sara. Sara is 12 years old and lives in Mumbai. She attends school, loves to sing and dance, helps out with the household chores and is learning how to play keyboard with future plans to be the praise and worship leader in her church. Sara was orphaned at the age of 5. She was rescued by Priscilla Children’s Home while living under a bridge. Sara had to rummage through the garbage and fight with the dogs for food to eat.
Sara is one of 50 girls living in the Priscilla Girl’s Home. This 50 girls live in 1200 sq.f. The Children’s Home is expanding their facility to hold an additional 100 girls. The new facility will be 3000 sq.f. There is a lot of political pressure in India to start building on the land or the Home will lose it. Fundraising has been very difficult. With the current state of the economy it is almost impossible.
Our need is great. A total of $80,000 needs to be raised before the end of the year. We are asking for a $500 donation from you. This amounts to $3.34 per girl for a home for them until they have completed school and can provide for themselves.
If this $500 donation is impossible for you to reach personally, would you help us out by getting your friends, family, church or civic group involved. Maybe ask them to pledge one or two girls- under $10, until you reach the $500. All donations are tax deductible. A walled mural will be designed with a tile in your honor. You can sign or design this tile however you would like. It will be placed on a wall in the girl’s home in India. The girls will see this mural daily; remember the love that their Christian Family has for them across the world. These girls will lay hands on this wall and pray daily for all that have blessed them with a roof over their head, food to eat, a place to sleep, an education and avoiding the most likely fate of a life in the flesh trade.
We are truly in a crisis mode and need to move as quickly as possible to keep from losing the land and this opportunity. Please PRAY about this request and read Isaiah 58. Isaiah 58:9 then you will call, and the LORD will answer; you will cry for help, and he will say: Here am I. "If you do away with the yoke of oppression, with the pointing finger and malicious talk, 10 and if you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. 11 The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail.
